This two-year Level 3 course is for both adults and recent school -leavers. Applied science is a discipline that applies existing scientific knowledge to develop more practical applications, such as technology or inventions. It's perfect if you want to pursue a career in the field of science, with roles ranging from laboratory and industrial science, to chemistry and chemical engineering. The course is designed to build highly sought after employability skills such as teamwork, project management and independent research to name a few. The college has links to various local universities and students have the opportunity to participate in workshops in the biomedical science labs at some of these. You could also continue onto higher education, choosing from a wide range of science and healthcare courses such as paramedic science and radiography.

You will explore a number of fundamental scientific concepts in chemistry, biology and physics and their application in industry. you will develop the practical techniques required when working in a laboratory such as: investigating the quantities necessary in chemical reactions, structure and function of various cells & parts of the human body, and the calorific value of different fuels.
