Earth and Spatial Sciences: Geological Sciences
Summary

Modern geologists don’t simply study rocks. Today’s geoscientists assess and predict geologic hazards that may occur where humans intersect with the physical world, provide strategies for mitigating impacts of human-driven climate change, and meet the needs of an industry fueled by mining, environment, water resources and others.

Students in the geological sciences option study mineralogy, petrology, stratigraphy and more and earn hands-on experience with field experience led by expert faculty. You will graduate prepared to balance the many demands on the nation’s land resources in careers that span the petroleum and mining industries, environmental consulting, state and federal land management agencies and more.
